Formaat is the Flemish federation of youthclubs. As a member organization Formaat supports over 350 youth clubs in Flanders by offering information, documentation and education. For more information on Formaat surf to www.formaat.be.

Formaat is following the debate on the accreditation of competences with rising interest. As a youth work organization Formaat is a proponent of the recognition and the accreditation of the competences youngsters obtain outside the school walls. Young people don't only learn at schools, they also obtain important competences in their free time, in youth work, by practicing their hobbies,... .

According to the recognition and accreditation of informal and non-formal learning, Formaat wants to reach its goals with research, experimental projects and preparatory policy work.

ECYC

ECYC is the European confederation of youth club organizations. ECYC stimulates the cooperation of youth clubs in Europe and promotes programmes of youth exchange, joint training and seminars. In addition the confederation wants to increase the international awareness amongst young people. ECYC is also following the debate on the recognition of non-formal learning with rising interest. City of Antwerp

Antwerp is an important Belgian city and is situated on the banks of the river The Schelde. The city of Antwerp believes in the recongition of non-formal learning and the possibilities of youth work, as a provider of non-formal learning opportunities. During the years 2006 - 2008 for example, the city of Antwerp supported a variety of experiments on this theme...

  • In 2006-2007, the city of Antwerp supported the WACKER-project. This was a unique project in which partners from different sectors (youthwork, education, employability) developed a method for recognizing young peoples competences.
  • In 2007-2008 the city of Antwerp organized several experiments with the Youth Achievement Awards on the recognition of non-formal learning in youth work, in cooperation with UK Youth.
